3OH!3 – 11/28/2018, Silver Spring, MD

It was cold, windy night in Silver Spring, Maryland, but the weather wasn’t enough to deter the long line of fans wrapping around the Fillmore and surrounding buildings this past Wednesday. Despite some nasty windchill, the showgoers knew they had an exciting evening of dj sets and live music waiting for them inside the venue doors.

The night opened with a laidback dj set as the attendees filtered into the building, quickly turning into a set of throwback hits. Songs like Lil Jon’s “Get Low” and Usher’s “Yeah?” brought everyone back to the early 2000s, feeling like a high school dance sans teenage awkwardness.
The next set introduced our hosts of the evening: Emo Nite LA. Run by the trio of TJ Petracca, Babs Szabo, and Morgan Freed, Emo Nite LA plays the music we listened to in middle school and high school. What started out as a few friends pretending to be djs has now sparked a nationwide movement of emo nites across the country, encouraging former (and not so former) emo kids to relive the anthems of their youth.
Taking the stage next was Lil Aaron. Playing a set of his rap-pop hits, he paced around the front of the stage, helping hype up the rapidly growing crowd.
After another round of throwback hits from the Emo Nite LA trio, the headliners took the stage. Mirroring the inclusive energy of Emo Nite, 3oh!3 also invited attendees on stage to sing and dance along with them. Their set, a full play-through of their iconic album Want, brought everyone in the crowd a decade back in time. Their nostalgic and boisterous set was truly the high note of the evening.
The Want House Party Tour continues on until December 7th, finishing off in Denver. If this tour is coming through your city, be sure to make it out for an unforgettable evening!
